We spent much of our time in Kruger looking for carnivores to photograph. This meant many hours in the car and, often, passing by rhino, elephant and antelope without stopping.
Many pictures in this set are close-ups, framing the animals in portrait.
Slender Mongoose. We had to try hard not to hit these guys with our car. They seemed to always be scurrying across the road.
The blue of the sky in this picture was really the norm during winter in South Africa. The Bateleur looks good in blue.
A young Hyena enjoys the evening sun.
Cape White-Eye
Animals show a variety of emotions. This Wild Dog looks menacing but is actually just arching its back after a nap.
One moment later, the same Wild Dog appears to lovingly nuzzle its friend. The expression is that of a domestic dog.
In the end it took quite a bit of convincing by the one dog to get other one to wake up.
Wake up!

A young leopard waits to see if the coast is clear.
A mother leopard encourages her cub to cross the street.
Eventually they cross together.
Leopard leavings. We waited nearly 2 hours for the leopard to return to its kill, but no joy.
A Kori Bustard searches for food in the early morning.
Lending a weary eye towards the oncoming herd of buffalo.
These buffalos were not impressed by the lions sleeping near their grazing grounds. Soon they began a charge to chase the lions away.
The standoff continued
Not happy about being chased from his napping spot in the shade.
Always just on the periphery of carnage.
Lucky charms. Every time we saw Southern Ground Hornbill in Kruger, we had good luck with carnivores!

The Klipspringer. For my money, the antelope with the most personality.
I bet its breath is horrendous.
Just lion around

Good morning
Always good to have an Oxpecker around to keep one clean.

The White Rhino is actually more aptly named Square-Lipped Rhino.
